Roadway Construction
Reputation for Quality and Safety
We are an innovative industry leader who has built a strong reputation for quality and safety.
Road construction is the process of installing soil stabilizers, asphalt, concrete, and other materials on a defined path to create a smoothed or paved surface that vehicles can move on between two destinations.
This is a complex venture that involves paving, rehabilitation, and/or reclamation of degraded pavements to create a motorable roadway. It can take months or years of planning before work can begin depending on the size and type of the envisioned road.
Step 1: Planning
Step 2: Setting Out
Step 3: Earthworks
Step 4: Paving
Step 5: Quality Control
Interchanges
Highway and interchange projects are complex, requiring knowledge and experience in diverse fields. Environmental and geographical conditions must be assessed, utility installation (water main, storm and sanitary sewers) must be stringently planned and specifications must be precise.
We use only the best construction materials (cement, concrete and aggregates), which are sourced from our sister companies. No matter the challenges, we are fully committed to meeting tight deadlines within budget, and in the safest manner possible.
Tunnels
Building tunnels is a challenge that Dufferin Construction can take on. The method of tunnel construction depends on such factors as the ground conditions, the ground water conditions, the length and diameter of the tunnel drive, the depth of the tunnel, the logistics of supporting the tunnel excavation, the final use and shape of the tunnel and appropriate risk management. Tunnel construction is a subset of underground construction.
There are three basic types of tunnel construction in common use:
- Cut-and-cover tunnel
- Bored tunnel
- Immersed tube tunnel
